Meet the BIPOC Press
Whatever the story, as a friend of ours likes to say, the other story is always the media. We bring together journalists from the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color press to hear what the media is getting right — and wrong — in their reporting on some of the most pressing stories of the month.
Catalytic Conversations

“Where the people who say it can’t be done take a backseat to the people who are doing it.”
Laura Flanders & Friends is a show about possibility—and proof. Produced by a fiercely independent media outfit, we bring journalism, commentary, and storytelling that packs a punch—amplifying bold ideas and the people putting them into practice, even in the most unexpected places.
From rural drag shows in North Carolina to cooperative businesses in Cleveland and Barcelona, we spotlight those building solutions now for the world we need tomorrow. We cover rising white nationalism and rising grassroots resistance. Forgotten histories and future-shaping innovations.
This is journalism that connects the dots—from worker-owned enterprises to distributed business models, from civil rights movements to the public’s fight for control over essential resources like water, broadband, and government itself.

Broadcast nationally on public television and radio and available as a free podcast, Laura Flanders & Friends delivers non-commercial, viewer-supported journalism across platforms—at a time when independent voices matter more than ever.
Laura takes you from boardrooms to backroads, urban centers to farming towns, investigating how record profits and rising poverty can exist side by side. She explores how wealth is created—and extracted—and how people across the country are reclaiming power over their lives, their land, and their labor.

In 2024, the show rebranded from The Laura Flanders Show to Laura Flanders & Friends, bringing in new co-hosts and deepening its commitment to collaborative, grounded reporting.
