Meet the BIPOC Press

Since 2021, Meet the BIPOC Press has been a monthly feature of Laura Flanders & Friends. Laura invites journalists of color from around the country, many from BIPOC-owned and operated media organizations, to explore the stories and perspectives left out of mainstream media. Voter suppression, America’s water crisis, drag story hour, the end of Roe v. Wade and race-conscious affirmative action — these are just some of the stories “Meet the BIPOC Press” has covered so far. It was originally co-hosted and co-produced by Sara Lomax and S. Mitra Kalita, the co-founders of URL Media, a national network of Black and Brown-led newsrooms working together to harness their collective power.
